CONDEMNATION PRACTICE
The firm has a very active and well-respected condemnation practice
group headed by Charles Webb. During the past 40 years, Mr. Webb
has represented both condemnors and condemnees in various states
matters both large and small, and he has tried to completion more
than 500 eminent domain matters in courts throughout the United
States.
Through its condemnation practice group, the firm represents several
government entities in major condemnation matters. We are condemnation
counsel for the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York in
connection with two multi-million dollar development projects for
the expansion of two colleges of the City University of New York,
namely, John Jay College in Manhattan and Medgar Evers College in
Brooklyn. In addition, we represent the Metropolitan Transportation
Authority with respect to its large-scale project to create the
Fulton Street Transit Center in Lower Manhattan, and also represent
the Empire State Development Corporation in connection with the
Atlantic Yards Project, which involves the construction of a major
mixed-use development in the Atlantic Terminal area of Brooklyn.
In these matters, the condemnation practice group provides counsel
in connection with the projects and eminent domain proceedings,
and actively defends and prosecutes litigation on behalf of the
agencies. We also serve as counsel to various developers and other
entities, providing them with legal counsel relating to major projects
in which condemnation is likely.
